Thoughtful

We are not what we know but what we are willing to learn. -Mary Catherine Bateson

Deep Breath,

Come into the awareness of self. You are alive, you are breathing, you are still learning—learning how to be you that is. Thoughtfulness breeds self-awareness. It is a powerful way to cultivate your identity apart from what you have adopted as your identity without considering where it came from.

We live in a face paced-digital era where convenience often takes precedence. The art of thoughtfulness is fading as we accelerate into new technology and new ways of living. This isn’t all bad, the world is evolving, but are you? I urge you to step beyond convenience and carve out intentional time for truthful reflection. I say truthful, because not all of our thoughts are healthy or from us. Spending time with your thoughts can help you decipher those from you, from your environment or God. (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Our mind can be a scary and overwhelming place, so it is more than okay to ease into this and seek out additional help. The idea of thoughtfulness is to intentionally think about what it is you are thinking about. Practicing this allows us to dive into the depths of our thoughts and emotions, unearthing hidden insights and gaining a holistic understanding of ourselves.

My hope for you is to discover the unique ways in which you express your inner self. It could be drawing, poetry, journaling, daydreaming, voice-recordings, therapy, the possibilities are endless. Whatever it may be, make it your place of complete and utter honesty. Do not hold back what you are thinking or feeling in this space. Rid yourself of any expectations and misconceptions that silence you from expressing your heart.

Thoughtfulness and privacy go hand-in-hand. Sometimes we may hold embarrassment, curiosity, unexplainable jolly, a myriad of feelings that coexist in our head and heart. Giving ourselves the privacy to work through them will empower you to feel them and eventually let go of what no longer serves you.

I pray that on your journey of thoughtfulness you find the time to examine your thoughts and determine what are yours and not. May your thoughts be shielded from negativity and elevate you to a realm of understanding and connectivity to your true self and God. May you recall to mind that your mindset matters, and therefore the healthy of your mind and heart depend on you to do the work. May you have fun doing so. May you endure your healing and embrace your liberation as a result of your commitment to becoming your most authentic self.

I send you my love and light, and may your pen gracefully dance across the pages, revealing the wisdom that lies within.

xoxo, Phionna
